Effective bowel emptying is the norm for most people. However, for some functional or neurogenic bowel disorders can cause chronic constipation or fecal incontinence. This can have a drastic impact on the quality of life. Rectal irrigation, also known as transanal irrigation, or TAI can help.
For your bowel emptying program, consistency related to the time of the day you do the procedure is paramount. Continents in between irrigations is the goal. Positioning of the cone is also important. Maintain a tight seal as you instill the water. The gastrocolic reflex is most effective one-half hour to one hour after eating, a warm drink can also help stimulate the bowel.
MTG is proud to announce that we now offer AquaFlush TAI products. The purpose of this video is to introduce you to the various options available. Please check with your healthcare professional and also contact us. To determine which Alesh TAI product is right for you.
Rectal irrigation using AqauFlush is a simple procedure. Body temperature water is gently instilled via a soft silicone cone inserted into the rectum and part of the colon. As water enters the rectum, the rectal wall stretches to the point when there is a desire to open your bowels. At this point, pumping is stopped. The cone is removed, and any stool and water are emptied from the bowel.
Instruction from your healthcare professional will include the volume of water you will instill, the frequency of use, and how long you can expect it to take for your system to adapt to routine TAI. In general, plan on 30 to 45 minutes for the procedure. You’re gonna use it once every day or every other day, and it takes about a month for your body to adapt to TAI.
Now let’s have a look at the Alesh TAI products. These are the three products mtg offers in the AquaFlush product line. First, let’s have a look at AquaFlush Quick. There’s a 2000 ml water bag, a four foot long pump tube assembly, and a soft silicone cone. To facilitate water installation for pediatric users, we offer AquaFlush light, a 1200 water bag, pump tube assembly, and a soft silicone cone in pediatric size. And finally, we also offer compact for users that don’t require much fluid installation. This one is basically just the pump, the soft silicone cone, and an available extension tube.
In our starter kit. Everything’s included that you need to get going. All that’s required is to take the tube assembly and just snap it in you’ll hear a click and we’re good to go.
So what we’ve done now is we’ve filled the bag with body temperature water. It’s between 36 and 37 degrees Celsius, or 97 to 99 degrees Fahrenheit. Again, I can tell so because it’s on my temperature gauge right here. I’ve gone ahead and primed to my line, and you can see that I’ve added a little bit of lubricant to my cone that’ll allow for easier insertion into our patient.
What I’ll do next is I’m gonna open up my valve. And I will repetitive gentle strokes begin to squeeze the bulb syringe to instill the fluid up into our patient. I’m gonna watch the bag and see how much fluid’s been instilled once I’ve gotten the requisite amount of volume into my patient. I’m going to leave the cone in place for another minute.
I’m finally gonna withdraw everything away, and I’m gonna let nature take its course. And that is it. Accessories are available for AquaFlush, quick, light, and compact like our cone refill pack. We also have detailed instructions for use for both clinicians and end users. Please check out our website, MedTechGA.com for more information.
